The news is good: Historic moment for Chicago Tribune Guild

As of Sunday evening, May 6, the journalists of the Chicago Tribune Guild are proud to announce that our union has been recognized by Tronc, in a move that serves to underscore the sweeping and inevitable nature of our support across our newsrooms.  Rather than face an election with 86.5 percent of the newsrooms in favor of union representation, Tronc has taken a step considered unprecedented for a media company of its size, choosing voluntary recognition of three bargaining units.  Read the details here, in our letter announcing the deal to our colleagues.
